14-Year-Old Vaibhav Suryavanshi Ranks Behind Chris Gayle for Fastest Century in IPL History

Vaibhav Suryavanshi

On Sunday, Vaibhav Suryavanshi created history by becoming the youngest centurion in men’s T20 cricket and recording the second-fastest century in Indian Premier League (IPL) history.

The 14-year-old prodigy raced to his hundred in just 35 balls during only his third appearance in IPL 2025. His breathtaking innings, laced with 11 sixes and 7 fours, helped Rajasthan Royals chase down a daunting 209-run target in just 15.5 overs.

“It’s a very good feeling. It’s my first hundred in the IPL and only my third innings. The results of the hard practice before the tournament have shown today,” said a jubilant Suryavanshi after winning the Player of the Match award.
“I just see the ball and play. It has always been my dream to score an IPL century — and today, it materialized. I don’t play with fear; I don’t overthink; I just focus on playing.”

Suryavanshi’s blistering knock not only made him the youngest IPL centurion but also shattered the record for the fastest century by an Indian in IPL history, surpassing Yusuf Pathan’s 37-ball ton for Rajasthan Royals in 2010.

Meanwhile, Chris Gayle continues to hold the record for the fastest IPL century ever — a 30-ball 175* against Pune Warriors India in 2013.

India batting coach Vikram Rathour lauded the teenager, saying, “Everything about Vaibhav Suryavanshi is special.”
