LUCKNOW: In an unprecedented recruitment drive, the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment & Promotion Board (UPPRPB) is set to conduct its largest examination for the direct recruitment of constables, with 48 lakh aspirants competing for 60,244 posts. The re-examination will take place over five days, from August 23-25 and August 30-31, across two shifts daily. Approximately 4.8 lakh candidates will appear in each shift.

Security is a top priority following a paper leak scandal during the previous test in February, which led to the nationwide arrest of over 400 individuals. As a result, the board has implemented strict measures to ensure integrity and prevent malpractice. The UP Police and Special Task Force (STF) will be monitoring 1,541 individuals identified as part of cheating networks over the past decade.

To maintain transparency and security, the board has selected 1,174 examination centers across 67 districts, all within government or government-aided schools. Each district will be overseen by two nodal officers (ADM and ASP), with additional oversight from senior officers, including SPs, ASPs, and DSPs, who will be stationed at the centers.

UPPRPB Chairman Rajeev Krishna emphasized that maintaining “information security” is the highest priority. To this end, all 48 lakh candidates have undergone Aadhaar verification. Approximately 20,000 candidates flagged as suspicious will be required to arrive 150 minutes early for extra verification on exam day, with additional scrutiny for those who qualify the written test.

To further safeguard the process, eKYC systems will be deployed at examination centers, and post-exam verification will be conducted. The board has also warned candidates about fraudulent activity on platforms like Telegram and collaborated with the STF and police to monitor and take necessary action. Admit cards for the August 23rd exam are now available for download on the board’s website.
