5 Bangladeshi labourers arrested from construction site in Tripura

AGARTALA: Five Bangladeshi nationals were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly working illegally at a construction site in West Tripura, according to police reports. Acting on a tip-off, officers raided the Nandannagar area on the outskirts of Agartala and apprehended the individuals, stated Sukanta Deb, officer-in-charge of the New Capital Complex police station.

A local resident was also taken into custody for allegedly assisting the Bangladeshi workers.

“All the arrested individuals, including the local, have been produced before the court, and an investigation is currently ongoing,” Deb added.
