Nitin Gadkari on Modern Politics: “Politics Today is Only About Power”

NEW DELHI: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari voiced his concerns on Friday, stating that politics, once focused on social service, nation-building, and development, has now devolved into a game of ‘power politics.’ Speaking at a felicitation ceremony for Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagade in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Gadkari, a senior BJP leader, reflected on the shifting priorities in the political landscape.

“Politics today isn’t suffering from differences of opinion but rather from a lack of ideas. The true essence of politics lies in ‘samajkaran’ (social service), ‘rashtrakaran’ (nation-building), and ‘vikaskaran’ (development),” Gadkari remarked. “Unfortunately, its definition has changed, and it is now centered around ‘sattakaran’ (power politics),” he added.

His remarks highlight a growing concern about the focus of modern politics, which increasingly revolves around power rather than serving the greater good.
