In a surprising move, Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has extended an invitation to India’s External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar to join their protest in Islamabad. The unusual call comes as Jaishankar is set to visit Pakistan for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting.

The PTI, currently engaged in widespread protests against the Pakistani government, made the offer in an attempt to draw international attention to their cause. The protests are largely centered around demands for fresh elections and grievances over the country’s current leadership.

While the invitation is seen as symbolic and unlikely to be accepted, it underscores the escalating political tensions within Pakistan and the broader regional dynamics at play during the SCO meeting. The Indian government has yet to comment on the PTI’s proposal.
