Congress leader Jairam Ramesh emphasized that protecting India’s global reputation is a collective responsibility, urging the government to brief the opposition about its stance on the ongoing diplomatic tensions with Canada. Ramesh underscored that while the government must take the lead in addressing foreign policy matters, it is crucial for all political parties to work together in safeguarding India’s international standing.
Speaking on the Canada-India diplomatic row, Ramesh stated that the government should openly communicate its position and strategy to the opposition. He called for greater transparency and dialogue, especially on issues that impact the nation’s image globally. “The government has the responsibility to articulate its stand clearly to the opposition so we can present a united front in matters of national interest,” Ramesh said.
The statement comes amid escalating tensions between India and Canada, following allegations made by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, which have strained bilateral ties. The Congress leader stressed the importance of a coordinated approach to ensure that India’s global image remains strong during such critical times.
