LUCKNOW/NEW DELHI: Building on UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s statement “Batenge toh katenge” (if divided, we will suffer), which he voiced amid reports of Hindu persecution in Bangladesh, the RSS underscored on Saturday the essential role of Hindu unity for national interest and public welfare. The slogan has resonated as a rallying point, encouraging cohesion within Hindu communities as a shield against divisive influences.

At a press conference following the RSS’s two-day national meet in Mathura, RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale remarked that without unity, Hindu society could face fragmentation, stating, “Hindu samaj ekta mein nahi rahega toh… bantenge toh katenge.” He emphasized that this sentiment was aimed at strengthening social bonds against caste-based divisions, framing it as part of a larger effort to maintain harmony. Hosabale also highlighted how Yogi discussed plans with RSS leaders to ensure broad representation at Kumbh 2025, aiming to include tribal communities and those historically less engaged in such events.

Hosabale voiced the need for vigilance against efforts to split Hindus along caste and ideological lines, noting growing support for unity among political and religious figures. The RSS leader also praised CM Yogi’s appeal for an inclusive Kumbh Mela, pledging efforts to invite leaders from various Hindu communities, including Lingayats from the south and tribal chiefs, to promote nationwide representation.

This endorsement of Yogi’s remarks comes as BJP strategists review voting patterns showing minority consolidation in favor of the opposition India bloc, which led to some losses in Maharashtra’s Dhule and Mumbai North East constituencies. Observers suggest this strong backing from the RSS may strengthen Yogi’s standing within the BJP, especially in Uttar Pradesh, as the party prepares for state and national polls.

Hosabale clarified that the RSS meeting was not intended as a message to the BJP, downplaying any perceived rift. On his recent discussion with CM Yogi, Hosabale shared that they discussed preparations for the upcoming Kumbh Mela, with Yogi emphasizing the government’s commitment to delivering an even more organized event than in previous years.

The RSS leader further appealed to Hindus in Bangladesh to resist migration, highlighting their historical contributions and emphasizing the need for their safety and preservation of heritage sites. Additionally, he addressed the ongoing Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah dispute, expressing confidence in the judiciary to resolve the issue expeditiously, similar to the Ayodhya case.
