Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has hailed the preparations for the winter Char Dham Yatra as a “game changer” for the state. Speaking about the initiative, Dhami emphasized its potential to boost tourism and provide year-round opportunities for pilgrims and local businesses.
“The winter Char Dham Yatra will redefine tourism in Uttarakhand, attracting visitors even in the off-season and providing a steady source of income for locals. It’s a game changer for the region,” Dhami said.
The winter Yatra focuses on offering access to the revered Char Dham temples—Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri—during the colder months by facilitating worship at the nearby winter abodes of the deities. Enhanced infrastructure, including improved roads, accommodations, and safety measures, is being prioritized to ensure a seamless experience for devotees.
The initiative aligns with the government’s vision of establishing Uttarakhand as a year-round destination, blending spiritual tourism with economic upliftment. Pilgrims are encouraged to embrace the serene beauty of the Himalayas during winter while participating in traditional rituals at these sacred sites.
