Political strategist-turned-activist Prashant Kishor was arrested during his indefinite hunger strike, which he had undertaken to protest irregularities in the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exams. The arrest has intensified the ongoing debate around the credibility of the state’s recruitment process and the treatment of dissenting voices.
Kishor had been staging the hunger strike to demand a transparent investigation into allegations of favoritism, mismanagement, and corruption in the BPSC examinations. His protest drew significant public attention, with many supporting his call for systemic reforms in the examination process.
The state administration, citing concerns over law and order, detained Kishor. However, his arrest has sparked widespread criticism, with opposition parties and student groups accusing the government of silencing legitimate dissent.
“Instead of addressing the grievances of aspirants and ensuring fairness in recruitment, the government is cracking down on those raising their voices,” said a spokesperson from Kishor’s team.
The BPSC exam controversy has become a flashpoint in Bihar, with growing calls for accountability and reform in the public recruitment process. Kishor’s arrest is expected to further galvanize public opinion on the issue.
