ISKCON Temple

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a one-day visit to Mumbai on Wednesday to commission three state-of-the-art naval combatants and inaugurate a major ISKCON project in Navi Mumbai, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) announced.

At 10:30 AM, PM Modi is scheduled to commission INS Surat, INS Nilgiri, and INS Vaghsheer at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai. Later, at 3:30 PM, he will inaugurate the Sri Sri Radha Madanmohanji Temple, an expansive ISKCON initiative, in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai.

Strengthening Maritime Defence

The commissioning of the naval vessels marks a significant leap in India’s defence manufacturing capabilities and maritime security.

  • INS Surat: The final vessel of the P15B Guided Missile Destroyer Project, INS Surat is among the world’s most advanced destroyers, featuring 75% indigenous content and cutting-edge weaponry, sensor systems, and network-centric technologies.
  • INS Nilgiri: The lead ship of the P17A Stealth Frigate Project, it incorporates enhanced survivability, seakeeping, and stealth capabilities. The vessel was designed by the Indian Navy’s Warship Design Bureau.
  • INS Vaghsheer: The last submarine under the P75 Scorpene Project, it showcases India’s growing expertise in submarine construction, developed in collaboration with France’s Naval Group.

A Vision of Peace and Harmony

In addition to these defence milestones, PM Modi will inaugurate the ISKCON Sri Sri Radha Madanmohanji Temple, a sprawling nine-acre complex in Navi Mumbai. The temple includes a Vedic education centre, museums, and facilities designed to promote peace, universal brotherhood, and harmony through Vedic teachings.

The Prime Minister’s visit highlights India’s dual focus on bolstering defence capabilities and fostering cultural and spiritual growth.
