“Serious Matter, We Expect Accountability”: EAM S Jaishankar on Attack on Indian Consulate in San Francisco

External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar has strongly condemned the recent attack on the Indian consulate in San Francisco, calling it a “serious matter” and emphasizing the need for accountability. Addressing the incident, Jaishankar stated that India expects swift action from the U.S. authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure the safety of diplomatic premises.

“This is a matter of grave concern, and we have conveyed our expectations clearly. Diplomatic missions must be protected as per international obligations, and we expect those responsible to be held accountable,” Jaishankar said during a press briefing.

The attack, which took place earlier this week, involved acts of vandalism and attempted arson by unidentified individuals. The incident has raised concerns over the security of Indian diplomatic establishments abroad, prompting the Indian government to take up the matter at the highest level with the U.S. administration.

In response, the U.S. authorities have assured full cooperation and pledged to investigate the matter thoroughly. The State Department has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding diplomatic missions and ensuring such incidents do not recur.
