NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday, suggesting that Sonia Gandhi’s repeated efforts to establish Rahul’s political career were headed for another failure. Speaking at an election rally in Jharkhand’s Giridih, Shah remarked that Sonia had attempted to “launch the ‘Rahul plane'” around 20 times, all ending unsuccessfully, and predicted a similar outcome in Jharkhand’s Deoghar.
“Sonia-ji is fond of launching her son. She has tried to launch the ‘Rahul plane’ 20 times, but it crashed every time. Now, it’s set to crash for the 21st time,” he stated.
Shah also took aim at the waqf board in Karnataka, alleging it had seized land from ancient temples and rural communities, including 500-year-old religious sites. He vowed to push for an amendment to the Waqf Board Act to curb such alleged land acquisitions, regardless of opposition. “This waqf board has a habit of grabbing land, including farmland and ancient temple properties. BJP will introduce a bill in Parliament to amend the Waqf Board Act, and no one can stop it,” Shah declared.
In addition, Shah criticized the JMM-led coalition in Jharkhand, accusing it of using illegal infiltrators as a “vote bank” and promising that, if the BJP were elected, they would address illegal immigration and Naxalism. He pledged to deport “every infiltrator” and make Jharkhand the most prosperous state within five years, leveraging the state’s mineral resources for growth.
To address corruption, Shah promised the establishment of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate alleged misconduct by JMM leaders, with plans to recover funds for the state. He also pledged to develop mineral-based industries in Jharkhand to create local jobs and reduce migration.
