NEW DELHI: Anant Ambani, director of Reliance Industries, completed a 170-km padyatra from Jamnagar to the Dwarkadhish Temple in Gujarat on Sunday. The spiritual journey, undertaken ahead of his 30th birthday on April 9, culminated with prayers at the revered temple, where he was joined by his mother Nita Ambani, chairperson of the Reliance Foundation, and his wife Radhika Merchant.
The five-day pilgrimage began in Jamnagar and concluded in Dwarka, a city of deep religious significance in Hinduism. Covering 12 to 15 km daily, Ambani visited multiple temples along the route, offering prayers and chanting as part of his spiritual observance.
Speaking at the conclusion of his yatra, Ambani said, “This is my personal spiritual journey. I began it in the name of God and I end it with His name. I am deeply thankful to Lord Dwarkadhish and grateful to those who walked with me. My wife and mother are also joining me here today.”
Despite long-standing health challenges, including asthma and fibrosis, Ambani completed the entire trek on foot. During the journey, he reportedly halted a truck carrying chickens, purchased the birds, and instructed his team to ensure their care—an act that drew attention from both devotees and animal lovers.
“This padyatra is not about physical endurance, it is about faith,” remarked a fellow devotee at one of the temple stops.
The pilgrimage drew a warm response from local residents and devotees, many of whom greeted Ambani along the way with traditional chants and blessings. Upon reaching the Dwarkadhish Temple, he performed special prayers, according to temple authorities.
The Ambani family has a longstanding spiritual connection with the temple, having visited it on several occasions in the past. This padyatra is being seen by many as a deeply personal expression of faith and devotion.
