Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan, who recently played in the IPL season, made headlines last year following his divorce from his wife, Aesha Mukerji, granted by a Delhi court. Lately, rumors have circulated that Dhawan is set to marry Mithali Raj, the former captain of the Indian women’s national cricket team.
Addressing these rumors, Dhawan recently clarified on his show ‘Dhawan Karenge’ on Jio Cinema. He recounted the humorous incident, stating that the rumor of his impending marriage to Mithali Raj was entirely false. “I heard that I was getting married to Mithali Raj,” Dhawan said on the show, putting an end to the speculation.
Mithali Raj, 41, is currently the mentor for the Gujarat Giants in the Women’s Premier League (WPL). She is celebrated as one of the greatest cricketers in the history of the sport, holding the record for the most runs in Women’s One Day Internationals. Raj retired from international cricket in 2022 after representing India in the World Cup.
Shikhar Dhawan’s personal life drew significant attention last year when he was granted a divorce from Aesha Mukerji on grounds of “cruelty.” Dhawan and Mukerji met on Facebook and married in 2012. They have a son, Zoraver Dhawan. Dhawan accused his ex-wife of keeping their son in Australia, away from him. Both Aesha and Zoraver are Australian citizens. This was Dhawan’s first marriage, while Aesha had two daughters from a previous marriage.
On the professional front, Dhawan last played for Punjab Kings in IPL 2024. He has been absent from the Indian international cricket team and domestic cricket for some time. Currently, Dhawan is often seen engaging in entertainment industry projects.
