NEW DELHI: An Army jawan was injured on Monday during an exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists near Jammu and Kashmir’s Sunjwan military station. The jawan was reportedly shot from a stand-off distance outside the base, officials said.
Following the incident, a search operation was immediately launched to locate the attackers. According to reports by PTI, an army sentry spotted a suspicious individual near the garrison on the outskirts of Jammu and opened fire.
The area has been cordoned off by the Army and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the local police as a precautionary measure.
This is not the first attack on the Sunjwan military camp. In February 2018, terrorists launched a deadly assault on the base, killing six soldiers, a civilian, and three terrorists.
Security forces are on high alert as investigations and search operations continue.
