NEW DELHI: An Air India flight traveling from Mumbai to Thiruvananthapuram was forced into an emergency situation on Wednesday morning following a bomb threat. Upon receiving the alert, the aircraft was immediately placed in an isolation bay at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport.
Sources report that the bomb threat was communicated by the flight’s pilot as the plane approached the airport. The aircraft, carrying 135 passengers, landed safely without incident, and the passengers were evacuated.
According to a statement from the airport, “AI 657 (BOM-TRV) reported a bomb threat at 07:30 hours on August 22, 2024. A full emergency was declared at 07:36 hours. The aircraft landed safely and was moved to the isolation bay, where evacuation procedures were initiated.”
Airport officials have confirmed that no injuries have been reported, and normal airport operations have not been disrupted. Authorities are investigating the source of the bomb threat, though no further details have been released at this time.
