The political tussle in the Delhi liquor policy case escalated as the BJP accused Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of being the “kingpin” behind the alleged irregularities. This came after the Lieutenant Governor (LG) granted approval for the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to take further action in the case.
The BJP claimed that the alleged scam surrounding the now-scrapped excise policy points directly to Kejriwal’s involvement. Party leaders demanded accountability and stringent legal action against those responsible.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), however, dismissed the allegations as baseless, calling them a politically motivated conspiracy. AAP leaders accused the BJP of misusing central agencies to tarnish the Delhi government’s image and divert attention from pressing public issues.
The ED is expected to intensify its investigation following the LG’s approval, focusing on alleged financial irregularities and the role of key officials in framing the excise policy. The developments are likely to deepen the ongoing political rivalry between the BJP and AAP in the national capital.
