Dehradun: Union Home Minister Amit Shah voiced his hope that Uttarakhand would take significant steps towards promoting organic farming by closing down fertilizer shops. Speaking at an agricultural event in the state, Shah emphasized the importance of transitioning away from chemical fertilizers to embrace organic farming practices that are healthier for both people and the environment.

Shah highlighted Uttarakhand’s unique position as a state rich in natural resources and biodiversity, making it an ideal location for organic agriculture. He expressed optimism that the state government would support the shift towards sustainable farming, which not only enhances crop quality but also preserves the health of the soil and local ecosystems.

Shah’s comments come as part of the broader push by the central government to encourage organic farming across the country, aligning with national efforts to reduce the dependency on chemical inputs in agriculture. He also noted that closing fertilizer shops could serve as a symbolic and practical step toward achieving this goal.
