BHONGIR: Speaking at a public rally in Telangana’s Bhongir, Union Home Minister Amit Shah made a significant announcement, stating that if the BJP assumes power, it will prioritize increasing reservation for SC, ST, and OBC communities while discontinuing reservation for Muslims.

Shah criticized the Congress, alleging that they propagate falsehoods during elections. He countered claims that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would abolish reservation, highlighting Modi’s decade-long leadership without such action. He accused the Congress of reallocating reservations, granting 4% to Muslims at the expense of SC, ST, and OBC communities.

Asserting confidence in the BJP’s electoral prospects, Shah anticipated winning more than 10 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana, which he believes would bolster Modi’s national mandate. He pledged to enact the proposed reservation reforms upon securing victory.

Taking a dig at Rahul Gandhi, Shah contrasted Modi’s track record of fulfilling promises with Gandhi’s alleged failures. He criticized Gandhi for reneging on commitments related to farmer loan forgiveness, financial aid to farmers, student loans, and educational initiatives.

Shah underscored the BJP’s accomplishments under Modi’s leadership, contrasting them with the Congress’ perceived inaction over decades. He highlighted achievements such as expediting the Ram Mandir construction and abrogating Article 370.

Describing the Congress, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) as proponents of appeasement politics, Shah accused them of opposing national initiatives like the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and boycotting significant events like the Pran Pratishtha ceremony.

With voting for all 17 Telangana seats scheduled for May 13 in the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections, and results expected on June 4, Shah’s remarks set the stage for a heated electoral contest.
