NEW DELHI: The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) produced a dominant all-round display to register a convincing 80-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Match 15 of IPL 2025, held at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Thursday.
The emphatic win was shaped by Venkatesh Iyer’s explosive half-century and Vaibhav Arora’s incisive bowling, as KKR outplayed SRH in all departments.
Iyer Ignites KKR’s Innings
Batting first, KKR overcame early setbacks with a fiery middle-order resurgence. Venkatesh Iyer turned the tide with a scintillating 60 off just 29 balls, laced with 7 fours and 3 sixes at a strike rate of 206.90.
Walking in at 97/3 in the 11th over following Ajinkya Rahane’s dismissal, Iyer immediately took charge. His aggressive intent shifted the momentum as he forged a vital partnership with Angkrish Raghuvanshi (50 off 32 balls).
Iyer fell in the 19th over—caught by Aniket Verma off Harshal Patel—but not before powering KKR to a formidable 200/6 in 20 overs.

Arora Leads the Charge with the Ball
Defending a strong total, Vaibhav Arora struck early, dismissing the dangerous Travis Head in his first over. He continued to dismantle the SRH top order, removing Ishan Kishan (2) and Heinrich Klaasen (33) in a fiery spell that broke SRH’s backbone.
Arora finished with impressive figures of 3/29, earning him the Player of the Match award.
SRH never recovered from the early blows, bundled out for just 120 in 16.4 overs. Only Klaasen (33) and Kamindu Mendis (27) offered brief resistance.
Supporting Arora, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakaravarthy, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell chipped in with crucial wickets to seal a comprehensive win.
