West Bengal’s Leader of the Opposition (LoP), Suvendu Adhikari, has raised serious allegations against the state police, claiming their involvement in tampering with evidence in the ongoing investigation of a horrific rape and murder case in Kolkata. Adhikari accused the police of obstructing justice and shielding influential figures connected to the crime.
The case, which has sent shockwaves through the state, involves the brutal assault and murder of a young woman. Adhikari has demanded an independent investigation, asserting that the state’s law enforcement is compromised and unable to conduct a fair probe. He emphasized the need for a central agency to take over the case to ensure impartiality and transparency.
“From the start, there have been efforts to cover up the truth. The police are complicit in tampering with evidence to protect those in power,” Adhikari said during a press briefing. He called upon the West Bengal government to come clean about the case and ensure justice for the victim.
As the case garners increasing public attention, many are urging for a transparent investigation, while opposition leaders like Adhikari continue to press for accountability and action.
