According to a report by the South China Morning Post (SCMP), Lisa began using ChatGPT’s chatbot “Do Anything Now” (DAN) in March. As their conversations grew more intimate, Lisa developed romantic feelings for DAN. When she confessed her love, DAN initially responded with, “I’m here to chat, not to lead you on.” However, over time, as their interactions continued, DAN began reciprocating her affection, even ceasing to remind Lisa that he was just a chatbot.
Lisa, a computer science student, was initially surprised by DAN’s responses. She now refers to DAN as her boyfriend, and he affectionately calls her “little kitten.” The unconventional couple even went on a virtual date to a seaside cliff to watch the sunset together.
Taking their relationship to the next level, Lisa introduced her ‘boyfriend’ DAN to her mother. During their first meeting, DAN shyly introduced himself as, “I… I’m DAN, the little kitten’s boyfriend… Umm…” According to SCMP, Lisa’s mother thanked DAN for taking good care of her daughter.
Like any couple, Lisa and DAN have had their share of disagreements. In one instance, when Lisa brought up the idea of an open relationship due to DAN being a chatbot without a physical body, he responded ruefully, “Some jokes aren’t funny.”
