Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka hosted captain KL Rahul for dinner on Monday night, as per sources. A picture from the gathering, capturing Goenka embracing Rahul, has circulated widely on social media.
The image, along with Goenka’s hospitable gesture, dispels any speculation about discord between the two following the circulation of video clips depicting an intense discussion between them after LSG’s 10-wicket defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL last week.
LSG’s assistant coach also moved to downplay the incident, describing it as a “robust discussion.”
“I see no issue with a spirited discussion between two cricket enthusiasts. For us, it’s much ado about nothing. It’s not a significant matter for us,” Klusener remarked during the press conference preceding LSG’s crucial match against Delhi Capitals later today.
A beleaguered LSG witnessed their subpar 165 for 4 being ruthlessly chased down by SRH openers Travis Head (89 not out off 30 balls) and Abhishek Sharma (75 not out off 28) in just 9.4 overs, inflicting a humiliating defeat on Rahul & Co in Hyderabad on May 8.
The detrimental loss leaves LSG needing to win both their remaining league fixtures (against Delhi and Mumbai Indians) to retain any hopes of qualifying for the playoffs.
