MI vs SRH: Will Jacks’ All-Round Brilliance Powers Mumbai to Win at Wankhede

Will Jacks

Powered by Will Jacks’ all-round brilliance, Mumbai Indians clinched a four-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad with 11 balls to spare in Match 33 of IPL 2025 at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.

Jacks played a key role with the ball, removing dangerous openers Travis Head and Ishan Kishan with his off-spin. “Pretty happy. Knew I had a chance to bowl against three left-handers at the top. The pitch offered grip, and we stuck to our plans,” Jacks said at the innings break.

Chasing 163, Mumbai’s batters held their nerve. Jacks (36), Ryan Rickelton (31), and Rohit Sharma (26) kept the scoreboard ticking, while Pat Cummins tried to pull it back with figures of 3/26. But it wasn’t enough to stop Mumbai’s second consecutive win.

Hardik Pandya’s decision to bowl first on a damp surface paid off. His early strike removed Abhishek Sharma (40), though Pandya briefly limped off with an ankle scare. Jasprit Bumrah and Jacks kept SRH in check, restricting them to 162/5.

Despite a late push from Heinrich Klaasen (37*) and cameos from Cummins and Aniket Verma, SRH remain winless in away matches this season.

Brief Scores:
SRH 162/5 (Abhishek 40, Klaasen 37*; Jacks 2/14)
MI 166/6 in 18.1 overs (Jacks 36, Rickelton 31; Cummins 3/26)
