NEW DELHI: Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar met with party workers at his residence in Delhi on Sunday. The Janata Dal (United) is preparing to join the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre, and party members greeted Kumar ahead of the swearing-in ceremony for the union council of ministers.

The Janata Dal-United, which secured 12 Lok Sabha seats from Bihar, is a key member of the National Democratic Alliance. PM-designate Narendra Modi, along with his council of ministers, will take the oath of office in a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday evening.

MPs expected to be included in the Council of Ministers attended a high tea at the Prime Minister’s residence.

RJD MP Manoj Kumar Jha emphasized the expectations of the people of Bihar from their leaders, who are playing significant roles in the government. “If the leaders of Bihar (Nitish Kumar, Chirag Paswan, Jitan Ram Manjhi) are playing the role of kingmaker, the people of Bihar also have some expectations from them. Special category status should be accorded to Bihar, a special package should be given to Bihar, and a caste census should be conducted in the country,” Jha told ANI.
