Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, accusing him of prioritizing his political position over addressing the ongoing crisis in Manipur.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Kharge wrote, “Manipur continues to suffer, and the Prime Minister remains indifferent. His focus is solely on saving his chair, not the people.” The statement came in the wake of renewed violence in the northeastern state, which has been grappling with ethnic tensions and unrest for months.
Kharge criticized the BJP-led government for its alleged inaction, stating, “This government has failed to protect the citizens of Manipur. The silence and apathy from the top leadership are unacceptable.” He also called for immediate intervention and dialogue to restore peace in the region.
The Congress leader reiterated his demand for PM Modi to visit Manipur, accusing him of ignoring the humanitarian crisis. “It is the duty of the Prime Minister to provide reassurance and resolve the conflict. But his inaction speaks volumes,” he added.
The remarks reflect the opposition’s continued pressure on the central government to address the escalating situation in Manipur. As the violence persists, calls for accountability and tangible solutions grow louder, with political parties urging a bipartisan approach to ensure peace and stability.
