Pakistan Agrees to Hybrid Model for Champions Trophy, Seeks Same for Future ICC Events in India

Pakistan has agreed to a hybrid model for hosting the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, allowing some matches to be held outside the country. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has emphasized the need for a similar arrangement for ICC events hosted by India in the future.

The decision to adopt a hybrid model comes amid security concerns raised by several participating nations. While Pakistan will remain the primary host, select matches may be shifted to neutral venues to ensure smooth participation and logistical ease.

In advocating reciprocity, the PCB has requested the International Cricket Council (ICC) to consider a hybrid model for tournaments scheduled in India, citing similar challenges. This approach aims to address geopolitical sensitivities while maintaining the integrity of international cricket events.

The move has sparked discussions about the feasibility of hybrid hosting models as a long-term solution for managing cross-border tensions in cricket.
