NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked on a three-day visit to Brunei and Singapore, aimed at bolstering India’s strategic and economic ties with the two Southeast Asian nations. The visit comes as part of India’s ‘Act East’ policy, which seeks to strengthen relations with ASEAN countries and promote regional security and development.
During his visit, PM Modi is expected to engage in high-level talks with Brunei’s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, focusing on defense cooperation, trade partnerships, and energy security. Brunei, a significant oil-rich nation, is considered a key player in India’s energy strategy.
Following his engagements in Brunei, the Prime Minister will travel to Singapore, where he is scheduled to meet with Singaporean leaders, including Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. The agenda will likely center around enhancing economic collaboration, technological innovation, and infrastructure development.
PM Modi’s visit is seen as a critical step in deepening India’s presence in the Asia-Pacific region and strengthening its geopolitical alliances amid growing global challenges.
