‘Quit politics’: Assam CM demands Hemant Soren’s resignation

Hemant Soren's resignation

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma called for Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren to resign from his post, urging him to “quit politics” amid ongoing controversies surrounding Soren’s administration. Sarma’s demand came during a press conference on Saturday, where he criticized Soren for his alleged involvement in corruption and mismanagement in Jharkhand.

“Someone who has been embroiled in scandals and has failed to deliver effective governance should voluntarily step down,” Sarma said. He further added that the people of Jharkhand deserved better leadership and accountability, suggesting that Soren’s resignation would be the honorable course of action.

This demand marks a new escalation in the political rivalry between the two leaders, with Sarma positioning himself as a vocal critic of Soren’s administration. Soren, however, has dismissed the allegations as politically motivated, asserting that his government is focused on serving the people of Jharkhand.

The clash between the two chief ministers highlights the growing tensions between regional political leaders in India, as issues of governance, corruption, and development continue to dominate the national conversation.
