KULLU/SHIMLA: Rahul Gandhi announced on Sunday that the Congress-led INDIA bloc has set a “realistic target” of filling 30 lakh job vacancies if elected to office, contrasting it with PM Modi’s “false promise” of providing employment to two crore people. Speaking in Himachal Pradesh, Gandhi outlined additional pledges, including waiving crippling farm loans and scrapping the Agnipath recruitment scheme for the armed forces.

Gandhi criticized PM Modi for allegedly plotting to topple the Congress government in Himachal, asserting the party’s resilience. “BJP toppled governments in Goa, Arunachal Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh by offering crores in bribes, but you won’t succeed in Himachal. The people here know you too well,” he stated in Una.

This was in response to Modi’s comments in Mandi, where the BJP has fielded actor Kangana Ranaut, suggesting that the Congress government’s days were numbered.

Gandhi also reiterated his promise of financial support to women from poor families, with Rs 8,500 to be deposited in their bank accounts. He accused Modi of prioritizing the interests of a few corporates like Ambani and Adani, claiming, “Modi waived Rs 16 lakh crore in loans for 22 families but failed to provide Rs 9,000 crore to Himachal Pradesh for disaster recovery, affecting 22,000 families.”

Labeling Modi as the “epicenter of corruption,” Gandhi demanded transparency about donors under the electoral bond scheme. Criticizing the Agnipath scheme, he said, “It creates two types of soldiers. The Army never wanted such a scheme, which was created by the PMO. There won’t be any such scheme in an INDIA bloc government.
