Railway Board Unveils Expansion and Modernization Plans for Danapur Division

Patna: The Railway Board has revealed an ambitious plan for the expansion and modernization of the Danapur division under the East Central Railway (ECR). The initiative aims to address increasing passenger and freight traffic while enhancing the region’s economic prospects.

During a high-level meeting on Friday, Railway Board Chairman Satish Kumar, along with senior officials, discussed key projects focused on upgrading the rail infrastructure. Danapur Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Jayant Kumar Choudhary outlined plans that include the addition of third and fourth lines on critical corridors, modernization of stations, and the implementation of advanced signaling systems.

Key Highlights of the Plan

  1. Addition of New Tracks
    • A proposal for constructing third and fourth lines on a 400-km stretch from DDU (Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction) to Jhajha via Patna Junction is under review.
    • A survey costing ₹10 crore is underway to assess the feasibility of this expansion.
  2. Station Upgrades
    • Several key stations in the division will undergo modernization to improve passenger amenities and operational efficiency.
  3. Enhanced Connectivity and Efficiency
    • The new lines aim to reduce travel time, decongest busy routes, and ensure smoother freight and passenger movement.
  4. Economic Impact
    • The planned expansion is expected to boost the local economy by facilitating better goods transport and creating new job opportunities in the region.

Strategic Importance

Danapur ADRM (Additional Divisional Railway Manager) Aadhar Raj highlighted the significance of the proposed upgrades in improving connectivity and reducing bottlenecks. He emphasized that these projects are strategically vital for the seamless transportation of goods and passengers.

The Danapur division’s modernization plan aligns with Indian Railways’ broader vision to upgrade infrastructure across Bihar. This initiative reflects the commitment to leveraging rail networks as a catalyst for regional economic growth and enhanced connectivity.
