KUSHINAGAR: Union Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday emphasized that frequent elections are not beneficial for the country and outlined efforts to implement a “one nation, one election” system within the next five years. Addressing a poll meeting in support of BJP candidate Vijay Kumar Dubey, Singh highlighted the party’s and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stance on synchronizing Lok Sabha and assembly elections nationwide.
“In the next five years, we will strive to establish provisions for one nation, one election,” Singh stated. He praised Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, noting, “Today, when India speaks, the world listens.” Singh also pointed out that politicians in Pakistan are acknowledging India’s progress, contrasting this with the opposition from Congress and the Samajwadi Party.
He credited Modi for India becoming the world’s fifth-largest economy and predicted further growth: “By 2027, India will become the third-largest economy. I am confident that India will be a developed country by 2047, and if our government continues its work, India will become the largest economy in the world by 2070.”
Polling in Kushinagar is scheduled for the final phase of the Lok Sabha elections on June 1.
