RJD’s Manoj Jha Criticizes Modi’s ‘Mujra-Mangalsutra’ Remarks

News on the Go

PATNA: Launching a scathing attack on the NDA, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Manoj Jha said it was the first time he had heard the name of NDA in the last 10 years.

“For the last 96 hours, the echoes of NDA-NDA have mesmerized me, as I don’t remember when they last held an NDA meeting or talked about the NDA in the last 10 years. It was only about Modi, Modi, and Modi. Democracy can’t work like a narcissist; it demands the jewel of unity. Although the NDA is establishing their government and we are in opposition, I am happy that Modi’s majoritarian nature will be limited,” Manoj Jha said.

Responding to Congress’ remarks about the NDA alliance being Nitish-Naidu dependent, he said, “This is Congress’ analysis. But my point is that it doesn’t matter who establishes their government or wins the election, unity in democracy should always remain prominent. Now, I can assure you that whatever ‘Bhains-Mujra-Mangalsutra’ we were witnessing during elections, now it won’t occur anymore.

“Instead, I am happy for my state, as I feel demands of Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav for providing Bihar with ‘special status’, embedding the increased reservation in the 9th schedule, and conducting a nationwide caste census can be carried forward to the central government. Let’s wait for the appointment of the Home Minister and then we will file a petition to fulfill these demands. This time, they need to be flexible in this,” Manoj Jha added.

On Modi’s slogan of ‘New Developed Aspirational India’, Jha asserted, “These are all their gimmicks which they play every time. The words don’t matter; what matters are your gestures and expressions. During the elections, they were fixated on the ‘M’ letter and recited everything that started with ‘M’, including mutton, machi, mangalsutra, and even mujra.”

Speaking about Muslim reservation, Jha mentioned, “We held several press conferences and even our leader Tejashwi Yadav asked to analyze the Mandal Commission report, which recommends reservation for Muslims on the basis of Article 15 and Article 16. On an academic and societal basis, reservation is granted to non-Hindus, including Sikhs and Muslims. We even showed them a file, but PM Modi and Amit Shah denied these facts just for a few seats, destroying the peace of the nation.”

He added, “Now, the Prime Minister has to decide whether the Muslim reservation in Andhra Pradesh is societal, academic, or religious. NDA’s Prime Minister has to take this decision, and he is NDA’s Prime Minister, NDA’s!

On Friday, PM-designate Narendra Modi met the President after a meeting of leaders of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance, who elected him as the leader. Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi and other members of the new council of ministers will take oath in a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan on June 9.

Earlier on Friday, the President appointed Narendra Modi to the office of Prime Minister of India.
