NEW DELHI: Following the match against Canada, Indian team traveling reserves Shubman Gill and Avesh Khan are set to return home from the T20 World Cup, according to a report. The duo, along with Rinku Singh and Khaleel Ahmed, were part of the four-person traveling reserves who joined the team in Florida as a precautionary measure.
As per a Cricbuzz report, Gill and Avesh’s presence was limited to the US leg unless any unforeseen injuries occurred. After winning all three group-stage matches, Rohit Sharma’s team has comfortably secured a spot in the Super Eight stage of the tournament. India will face Canada in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Saturday, marking the final match of the US leg.
India continues to lead Group A, having defeated Pakistan, Ireland, and the United States. However, adverse weather conditions in Florida could potentially disrupt their momentum as they gear up for the Caribbean leg of the tournament.
Rinku and Khaleel are expected to join the team in Bridgetown, Barbados, for India’s first Super Eight match on June 20. The subsequent games are scheduled for June 22 in Antigua and June 24 in St. Lucia.
