Three coaches of the 22850 Secunderabad-Shalimar Superfast Express, including a parcel van, derailed near Nalpur Station in the South Eastern Railway division close to Howrah, railway officials reported on Saturday.

The derailment involved one parcel van and two passenger coaches. To assist affected passengers, 10 buses were arranged to continue their journeys.

According to the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of South Eastern Railway, no casualties have been reported, and officials are managing the situation on-site. “At 5:31 am today, the Secunderabad-Shalimar Weekly Express derailed while moving from the middle line to the down line. One parcel van and two passenger coaches derailed, but no major injuries or casualties have been reported. Ten buses have been provided for onward travel,” stated CPRO Om Prakash Charan.

The South Eastern Railway also released helpline numbers for assistance related to the incident.

This derailment follows two similar incidents last week in Tamil Nadu and Assam. In Tamil Nadu, a wheel derailed on the Bodinayakkanur-bound express train, while in Assam, rail traffic was disrupted on the Lumding-Badarpur hill section of Northeast Frontier Railway after a goods train wagon derailed. No injuries were reported in either case, though the disruptions have caused delays.
