Mumbai: Two individuals were detained at Mumbai airport for attempting to smuggle exotic turtles into the country. Airport officials, acting on a tip-off, intercepted the suspects during a routine baggage check and discovered multiple rare species of turtles hidden within their luggage.
The turtles, which are protected under international wildlife laws, were immediately confiscated by authorities. Officials have launched an investigation to trace the source and destination of the illegal wildlife consignment. Both suspects are in custody and face charges under the Wildlife Protection Act.
