Union Home Minister Amit Shah has launched a blistering critique of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, targeting Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray over what he termed as “betrayal politics.” Shah’s comments came during a rally in Maharashtra, where he hailed the BJP’s political successes in the state as a rejection of the MVA’s alleged duplicity.

Addressing a crowd, Shah said, “The victory in Maharashtra was not just an electoral win but a stand against the betrayal politics practiced by Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray. The people of the state have shown they will not tolerate political opportunism.”

The Home Minister accused the MVA leaders of prioritizing personal and political gains over the interests of the people. He particularly criticized Thackeray for breaking his alliance with the BJP post the 2019 Assembly elections to form a coalition government with the Congress and the NCP, calling it a “betrayal of the people’s mandate.”

Shah also commended the BJP’s efforts in Maharashtra under the leadership of Devendra Fadnavis, crediting the party’s grassroots work for the restoration of stability in the state. “Our focus has always been on development and good governance, unlike those who form alliances for convenience,” he added.

The MVA leaders, including Thackeray and Pawar, dismissed Shah’s remarks as political rhetoric aimed at polarizing voters ahead of the upcoming elections. Thackeray retorted, “The BJP fears our unity and strength, which is why they resort to baseless accusations.”

Shah’s pointed remarks have further fueled the ongoing political battle in Maharashtra, setting the stage for a high-stakes contest in the forthcoming elections.
