YSRCP General Secretary Sajjala Criticizes Election Commission for Bias

News

VIJAYAWADA: YSRCP General Secretary and State Government Advisor, Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, has accused the Election Commission (EC) of failing to act as a neutral umpire in the conduct of elections. He alleged that the EC and its officials have shown bias since the TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu formed an alliance with the BJP. Reddy urged the EC to uphold impartiality, especially on the counting day, emphasizing that the people’s judgment is what ultimately matters.

Speaking at the party office on Tuesday, Sajjala expressed confidence that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy would return to power with a significant public mandate. He criticized the EC’s conduct since the issuance of the election notification, suggesting that there have been biases in their actions. “There is no need for speculations as the fate of all candidates and parties is sealed in the EVMs, but we have concerns about the EC’s behavior,” he stated.

Sajjala accused Naidu of manipulating institutions and constitutional bodies for his political survival. He specifically mentioned the Macherla episode, claiming the EC was favoring Naidu. He challenged the EC to release all videos related to EVM damage incidents to reveal the truth, alleging that the TDP rigged the polling in Macherla with EC’s support.

According to Sajjala, Naidu has always relied on manipulating constitutional bodies rather than trusting the electorate. He claimed that Naidu’s alliance with the BJP was an attempt to undermine the public mandate. He warned officials that their actions during the election process would be scrutinized after June 4.

Sajjala highlighted that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has distanced himself from officials and election reviews since the release of the election schedule to avoid unnecessary controversies and allow the officials to function neutrally. He emphasized that Jagan has complete trust in the constitution, the people, and God, and therefore did not pressure officials during the elections.

Expressing full confidence in the people, Sajjala stated that YSRCP believes that the final judgment lies with the electorate and that Jagan would emerge victorious despite the challenges posed by Naidu. “We faced the elections as an opposition in 2019 and swept to power because we trust people. Now, it is the duty of the EC to protect its dignity and respect,” he concluded.
